Tommy Paul wins in 4 sets

Tommy Paul holds on to win in four sets 6-7 (5), 6-3, 6-1, 7-6 (3) against Gabriel Diallo.

A fantastic rally from Paul after dropping that first set that lasted an hour and 18 minutes.

Paul started to serve better and his deep groundstrokes bothered Diallo as the match went on.

Diallo started making more unforced errors, which cost him in the end. But a massive tournament for the Canadian, who leaves New York with his first two main draw slam victories.

Next up for Paul: World No. 1 Jannik Sinner in the round of 16.

What a dramatic game at 5-5 in the fourth set.

Tommy Paul faced several break point opportunities.

He even had a forehand cross court winner from Gabriel Diallo that made him fall to his knees.

But Paul found a way to hold serve and go up 6-5.

Diallo must hold serve to force a tiebreak.

Impressive bounce back from Paul who had a dip earlier in the set and seems to have turned it around.

4-4 fourth set.
